【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesausefulsummarytotheselectionanduseofproceduresfortestingcoatingpowdersandpowdercoatings.Itisapplicabletoboththermoplasticandthermosetcoatings,unlessindicatedotherwise.Bydesignthisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddresstestmethodsorproceduresdevelopedspecificallyforthefunctionalpowdercoatingmarket,thosecoatingpowdersforapplicationtopipeorreinforcedsteelbars(rebar).InformationoncurrenttestproceduresforpipeandreinforcedsteelbarcoatingpowdersandpowdercoatingscanbeobtainedthroughtheirrespectiveASTMSubcommittees,A01.05andD01.48.Selectionofthemethodstobefollowedandtheinterpretationofresultsmustbegovernedbyexperienceandtherequirementsineachindividualcase,togetherwithagreementbetweenthepurchaserandseller.Itshouldbenotedthatmanyofthemethodsusedforcharacterizingacoatingpowder,suchasgeltime(Section16)andinclinedflow(Section17),areprimarilymeantfortherelativecomparisonoftwocoatingpowders,ratherthantogiveatestvaluethatcanbeinterpretedasgoodorbad.Interpretationofthetestresultswilldependonthespecificapplicationinquestionandwillalsooftendependonthechemistryofthecoatingpowderused.1.1Thisguidecoverstheselectionanduseofproceduresfortestingcoatingpowdersandpowdercoatings.Thetestmethodsincludedarelistedin.Wheremorethanonetestmethodislistedforthesamecharacteristic,noattemptismadetoindicatesuperiorityofonemethodoveranother.Selectionofthemethodstobefollowedmustbegovernedbyexperienceandtherequirementsineachindividualcase,togetherwithagreementbetweenthepurchaserandtheseller.1.2ThisguidealsoreferstomethodsdevelopedspecificallyforthecoatingpowderindustrybythePowderCoatingInstitute,PCI,andtheInternationalOrganizationforStandards,ISO.1.3Thisguidedescribesthetestingofcoatingpowdersasappliedbyelectrostaticspray,fluidizedbed,oranyotherapplicablemethod.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
